これはすごく難しかったです。
whole damn lifeとは糞みたいな人生ってことです。
それを待ってるってことは、過ぎ去るのを耐えてるってことだろうと解釈しました。
「彼は死ぬほど嫌な時間が過ぎ去るのをじっと堪えてた」としました。
to take that flight 
take the flight では飛行機に乗るみたいなイメージですが、thatときてるので時間の長さとかそれ以上のことを表していると思いました。
「その飛行機に乗ってる間中」としました
